In a series of unexpected events, Tranmere Rovers' Carabao Cup first round match against Burton Albion was postponed due to a major power outage at Prenton Park. The game, scheduled for a 7:45 PM kick-off on August 13, 2025, was called off just 26 minutes before the scheduled start time.

The power outage, caused by Scottish Power, left Tranmere Rovers unable to operate tills, floodlights, and some turnstiles. Fans who had already arrived at the stadium were left disappointed as the announcement of the postponement came so close to the start of the game. One frustrated fan took to social media, stating "A joke. Just got here and been told the game is off."

Tranmere Rovers will hold a meeting with the EFL tomorrow morning to discuss details of the rescheduled fixture. The rescheduled match has been confirmed to take place on Tuesday, 19th August 2025 at 7:45 pm. The EFL and Tranmere Rovers coordinated to agree on the new fixture date, with the official announcement made by Tranmere Rovers on August 13, 2025.

Meanwhile, Bradford City fans experienced travel delays due to a cow shutting down the motorway en route to their tie against Blackburn. This incident caused gridlock traffic, leaving many fans stranded.

In another instance of chaos in the opening round of Carabao Cup fixtures, the Accrington Stanley game was postponed due to foggy conditions. Fleetwood Town's and AFC Wimbledon's trips to Prenton Park were also postponed due to international call-ups.

As the football season kicks off, fans are advised to keep a close eye on updates and plan their travel accordingly to avoid any last-minute disappointments. Tranmere Rovers have assured that more information about the new date and refunds will be provided in due course.
