In a thrilling encounter at the Munich arena, the EHC Red Bull Munich avenged their previous home defeat against the Bremerhaven Pinguins with a commanding 6-3 victory over the Augsburg Panther in the DEL season opener.

The match began with the EHC Red Bull Munich showing early aggression, outshooting the Augsburg Panther. The first goal of the game came in the 16th minute, courtesy of Veit Oswald, equalizing the score for the home team.

The derby between these two teams in the past two years has been grueling and nerve-wracking, but this time, the EHC Red Bull Munich took control, scoring two goals at the start of the final third to secure a commanding lead. Ville Pokka scored one of these goals, assisting himself after his shot was initially saved, and Patrick Hager scored the other, assisted by Philipp Krening.

Yasin Ehliz put the EHC Red Bull Munich ahead for the first time in the game with a goal in the 36th minute. Veit Oswald then added another goal for the home team in the 55th minute, making it 4-1 in favor of the EHC Red Bull Munich.

The Augsburg Panther tried to mount a comeback, with Riley Damiani scoring two goals, one in the 57th minute and another in the chaotic final phase of the game, and Tim Wohlgemuth scoring one as well in the 59th minute. However, Adam Brooks' goal for the Augsburg Panther in the final phase of the game was not enough to salvage the situation, as the EHC Red Bull Munich held on to secure a 6-3 victory.

The EHC Red Bull Munich fans displayed their support throughout the match, with banners and chants towards the Augsburg Panther, including "Thank you for the donation and greetings to the returning guests" and an adapted version of "Sweet Caroline" (Fuck AEV).

Under the leadership of coach Oliver David, the EHC Red Bull Munich aims to be title aspirants in the DEL season. David has shaped the team by implementing the Red Bull system, focusing on a more offensive, spectacular style of play to meet the expectations in Munich's competitive sports market, contrasting with the previous more reserved Scandinavian system approach that players did not fully embrace.

Unfortunately, the Augsburg Panther remains point-less in the DEL season. They will look to bounce back in their next match.
