In a shocking turn of events during a youth football derby, FC Erzgebirge Aue's Under-16 faced off against FSV Zwickau's Under-17, but the match didn't last long. The match, initially a top-tier league contest, was abandoned after a brutal outbreak of violence in the stands.

At the fussball.de portal, 130 spectators were registered for the game. However, the nightmarish scene unfolded when at least 30 individuals, primarily wearing black and lilac balaclavas, invaded the stands where Zwickau's supporters were gathered. The chaos resulted in the injury of four individuals aged 15 and 19, one of whom had to be taken to the hospital. Stolen fan items and fleeing perpetrators marked the end of the game's first 12 minutes.

Police apprehended a 27-year-old suspect believed to be involved in the violent incidences. The investigation is underway for charges of public order violations. Despite deploying 40 police officers, the situation spiraled out of control.

FC Erzgebirge Aue expressed regret for the disturbances on their official website under the title "FCE Regrets Incidents at Under-16 Match". The club spoke of "lethal attacks on spectators" and "provocations", but emphasized that these did not justify the violence. As soon as the offenders are identified, the club vowed to take harsh action against them. Erzgebirge Aue's first-team currently competes in the 3rd league.

The club stated that some "hooligans invaded the visitors' area of the spectator stands in the 12th minute, with a score of 1:0 for FC Erzgebirge". Despite providing extra stewards for youth games, the situation escalated rapidly, leaving safety impossible to guarantee. Consequently, the referee made the decision to immediately call off the match.

It remains uncertain whether the match will be replayed or rescheduled, or if the sports court will decide the outcome. Erzgebirge Aue would have made it to the final matchday as league leaders with a win. Zwickau, on the other hand, could have minimized the gap between them and leaders SC Borea Dresden and Erzgebirge Aue's youth team with a win. However, Zwickau's youth team no longer has a chance at the championship, as both Dresden and Erzgebirge Aue's youth teams are set to face each other in the final matchday.
