In a surprising turn of events, Brent Hinds, the guitarist of the renowned metal band Mastodon, announced his departure from the band in March. The band, however, remains undeterred and is set to perform in the UK, supporting Slayer in Cardiff on July 3 and Finsbury Park, London on July 6.

The upcoming gigs are significant, as they involve supporting Slayer and participating in the Back To The Beginning Sabbath all dayer at Villa Park, Birmingham, sandwiched between these dates. The person supporting Mastodon at these concerts, following Hinds' departure, has yet to be identified.

Bill Kelliher, another Mastodon guitarist, discussed the decision in an interview with Guitar World, stating that it was a hard decision for all involved. Kelliher compared the decision to a marriage growing apart, and he wished nothing but the best for Hinds in his future endeavors.

However, Hinds' recent comment indicates a shift in his feelings towards the band since his departure announcement. He referred to Mastodon as a "shit band with horrible humans," suggesting a strained relationship between him and the rest of the band members. The band has not yet addressed this comment.

Interestingly, one fan commented on the post expressing their favorite track and missing B. Hinds. Mastodon, in response, posted about the 11th anniversary of their album "Once More 'Round the Sun" last week, a testament to their enduring legacy spanning 25 years.

As of the current news article, Mastodon's upcoming UK performances are expected to proceed as planned, despite the recent developments. These shows may serve as an opportunity for Mastodon to showcase their music without Hinds, providing an intriguing dynamic for fans to witness.

Despite the departure being initially presented as a mutual decision, the comment made by Hinds raises questions about the nature of his departure and the current state of the band. The band has not responded to Hinds' comment, leaving fans and music enthusiasts eagerly awaiting further updates.
