MasterChef 2025: Release Date Revealed, Everything You Need To Know

The much-anticipated MasterChef 2025 is set to air on BBC One starting August 6, marking the 21st year of the popular cooking competition. Over fifty contestants from across the UK will participate, with the series continuing to air on BBC One [1].

Despite the upheld findings against both presenters, John Torode and Gregg Wallace, the BBC has decided to air the show. The broadcaster believes this is "the right thing to do for these cooks who have given so much to the process." The BBC wants to properly recognise the contestants' efforts and give the audience the choice to watch the series [2].

Gregg Wallace, one of the presenters, was found to have caused distress to 45 out of 83 allegations made against him, but he has stated that none of the serious allegations were upheld [3]. John Torode, another presenter, was found to have used an extremely offensive racist term, but he has no recollection of the allegations made against him [4].

The first challenge in MasterChef 2025 is called 'Basic To Brilliant', where contestants are tasked with transforming everyday items into something special, as described by John Torode [5]. The second new challenge is part of the Invention Test, where contestants are given the same basic recipe and are expected to showcase their creativity and personalities [6].

Brin Pirathapan, the winner of MasterChef 2024, will not be returning as a contestant this year, but he will be watching the series with great interest. Brin's love of cooking is inspired by his Sri Lankan heritage [7].

Episode 1 of MasterChef 2025 will air on August 6, followed by Episode 2 on August 7 and Episode 3 on August 8 [8]. The first three episodes will also be available on iPlayer on August 6 [9].

The BBC is yet to decide whether to air Celebrity MasterChef or Christmas specials featuring Torode and others [2]. Some contestants have expressed concerns about the controversy, with one contestant, Sarah Shafi, requesting to be edited out due to her concerns [3].
