Massive tree collapses in Mexico City storm, crushing parked cars

Heavy rain and strong wind gusts on Wednesday afternoon caused a tree to topple in the Polanco Quinta Sección neighborhood of Mexico City's Miguel Hidalgo borough.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Campos Elíseos and Lamartine, where the falling tree struck two parked vehicles on the street.

Initial reports indicate the accident resulted only in material damage, with no injuries or fatalities reported.

Residents noted that the evening's adverse weather—persistent rain and high winds—had softened the soil and destabilized the tree, leading to its collapse.

Emergency response teams arrived at the scene to remove the trunk and clear the roadway while assessing the damage to the affected vehicles.
