Massive tree collapse blocks Sochi street after torrential downpours
A large tree has collapsed onto Pavlov Street in Sochi’s Lazarevsky District after heavy rain. The fallen trunk has completely blocked traffic, forcing drivers to seek alternative routes. Authorities have warned of more downpours expected throughout the week.
The incident occurred as torrential rain soaked the region, causing the tree to topple across the roadway. Emergency response teams from the Municipal Unitary Enterprise Vodokanal Sochi were quickly dispatched to the scene. Crews are now actively cutting and removing the debris to reopen the street.
Motorists have been advised to avoid the area until the road is fully cleared. Earlier forecasts from meteorologists had already signalled prolonged heavy precipitation for Sochi, raising concerns over potential flooding and further disruptions.
The cleanup operation on Pavlov Street remains ongoing, with no immediate estimate for when normal traffic will resume. Additional rainfall in the coming days could increase the risk of similar incidents across the city. Drivers are urged to stay updated on road conditions and follow official detours.
