Massive Highway 443 Checkpoint Uncovers Dozens of Traffic Violations and Drug Cases
Police carried out a large-scale checkpoint on Federal Highway 443 on March 10, 2026. Officers stopped and inspected around 140 vehicles during the operation. Multiple violations were uncovered, leading to fines, investigations, and immediate penalties for drivers.
The checkpoint targeted traffic offences and road safety risks. Eight drivers were fined for failing to wear seatbelts. Two others faced penalties under the Motor Vehicle Tax Act.
A vehicle with dangerous technical modifications was also identified. The changes posed a clear risk to road safety, prompting further action. Four drivers were caught operating vehicles without a valid licence. Police launched criminal investigations in each case. Three more drivers tested positive for drugs, including cocaine and THC. Their licences were immediately confiscated, blood samples taken, and administrative proceedings started. Under German law, such offences can lead to heavy fines, penalty points, and potential long-term licence revocation. In total, the operation resulted in six criminal investigations and 44 administrative offence proceedings.
The checkpoint on Federal Highway 443 led to multiple enforcement actions. Drivers now face fines, licence suspensions, and possible court proceedings. Police have reiterated their commitment to targeting unsafe and illegal driving behaviour.
