Massive blaze in the southern region of France mostly doused
In the heart of southern France, a massive wildfire that broke out on Tuesday afternoon, August 5, 2025, has been largely extinguished by Sunday, August 10. Despite the intense efforts of over 2,000 firefighters, the fire continued to burn in some areas, with emergency services remaining on site to ensure complete extinguishment.
The fire, which spread rapidly due to dry conditions and strong winds, ultimately consumed around 16,000 hectares. It was described as the largest in France in decades and the most extensive since 1949.
