Braintree American 12A Heads to Little League World Series
The Braintree American 12A Little League team is set to make history as they advance to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. This marks the first time a Braintree team has gone this far in the prestigious tournament.
Known as a baseball town, Braintree has been riding high on a 17-0 undefeated streak this summer. Their journey began with the Massachusetts State Championship, where they clinched a 1-0 victory over Walpole on July 27, 2025.
The team's postseason run continued with the Massachusetts state playoff tournament, a modified double-elimination format that they successfully navigated, culminating in the state championship on July 27. After their state victory, they advanced to the New England Regionals in Bristol, Connecticut, where they continued their undefeated streak.
In the regionals, they defeated Maine, 15-0, and shut out Vermont 10-0. Notably, Braintree hadn't allowed a run over eight innings before Thursday's World Series opening game against the Southeast champions from Irmo, South Carolina.
The championship game was held in Bristol, Connecticut on Thursday night, and the Braintree Little Leaguers secured their spot in the World Series with a thrilling 3-2 extra-inning victory over Bedford, New Hampshire.
The World Series opening game against South Carolina will take place on Thursday, August 14 at 3 p.m., and will be broadcast on ESPN. Excitement is running high in Braintree, Massachusetts, with watch parties at restaurants and bars such as the Southside Tavern drawing crowds of eager parents, kids, and locals.
Braintree is the first Massachusetts team to win the New England Regional since Middleboro in 2022.
