Heatwave Continues in Boston, Cooler Temperatures on the Horizon

Boston residents are bracing for another round of heat this week, with temperatures expected to reach the mid-90s from Monday through Wednesday, and possibly extending until Thursday. This marks the third heatwave in Boston this summer, and in many other towns to the north and west of Boston, it's the fourth heatwave of the season.

The number of 90+ degree days in Boston this year has already reached 17, which is three more than the average and the most in three years. Monday marked the 10th straight day without any measurable rainfall in Boston, but relief is on the way as Thursday brings the best chance of rainfall this week.

Despite the heat, the dewpoints are not expected to be as high with this round of heat, at least not yet. This means the heat may feel less oppressive, although east winds 5 to 10 knots, increasing to 10 to 15 knots with gusts up to 20 knots in the afternoon, may make it feel a bit breezy.

To help residents cool off, splash pads and pools in Boston will be open and available. A full list of open pools and splash pads can be found here. Residents are advised to stay hydrated, avoid outdoor activities, and understand the symptoms of heat exhaustion.

As the heat emergency in Boston, declared by Mayor Michelle Wu, lasts from Monday through Wednesday, residents are encouraged to take these precautions seriously. The weather conditions are expected to become oppressive later on Wednesday and Thursday.

In good news for those seeking a break from the heat, the South Coast, Cape Cod, and the Islands are expected to have temperatures in the upper 70s and low 80s due to a southwest wind off the ocean.

Finally, for those interested in celestial events, there's a meteor shower to look out for this week. More information can be found here.

News of a continued heatwave in Boston indicates that temperatures will reach the mid-90s from Monday through Wednesday, and possibly until Thursday. Meanwhile, those seeking a break from the heat can look forward to cooler temperatures in the South Coast, Cape Cod, and the Islands, with temperatures in the upper 70s and low 80s due to a southwest wind off the ocean.
