Mass exodus from Gaza City as Israeli military's intense onslaught wreaks destruction
In the heart of the ongoing Israeli offensive in Gaza, a harrowing tale of resilience and determination emerges. Ahmed Daif Allah, a man who reportedly lost his eyesight during an Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) airstrike in Gaza, spent part of the past week stumbling blindly towards an uncertain safety.
Accompanied by his wife, Rafiq, Ahmed was led by the hand throughout their dayslong walk from Gaza City to the southern part of the enclave. The journey was incredibly tough, more than anyone could imagine, according to Rafiq. She described the ordeal as devoid of humanity, with no pity to be found along the way.
The IDF, operating with unprecedented force against Hamas and other terrorist organisations in Gaza City, launched its new offensive on Tuesday, causing hundreds of thousands of people to flee Gaza's most populous area. The location of the incident where Ahmed lost his sight is in Gaza.
Footage of Ahmed's journey was provided by a local journalist, who shared it with NBC News from Tel Aviv. The IDF Arabic-language spokesman, Avichay Adraee, urged civilians to leave the famine-stricken area, emphasising the importance of their safety amidst the ongoing conflict.
As the conflict continues, the world watches on, hoping for a swift resolution and a return to peace for the people of Gaza, including Ahmed Daif Allah and his wife Rafiq. Their story serves as a poignant reminder of the human cost of conflict and the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity.
