Unleashing Chaos: Paris Saint-Germain's Triumph Sparks Unruly Celebrations and Arrests

The streets of Paris turned chaotic as the historic victory celebration of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the Champions League unfolded, yet the jubilation was marred by a storm of violence and arrests. French authorities report at least 479 people arrested in the city.

Tensions escalated near the iconic Champs-Élysées, where the atmosphere went from joyous to volatile, with fireworks lighting the night sky, vehicles ablaze, and opportunistic attempts to pillage commercial establishments. Police had to employ tear gas to quell the tumultuous crowd.

Taking to social media, the French Interior Minister lashed out at those who manipulated the euphoria of PSG fans to commit atrocities and instigate confrontations with law enforcement.

"Authentic PSG supporters revel in their team's stunning performance. However, savages exploited the streets of Paris to commit crimes and taunt the police. I instructed the police to respond forcefully to these heinous acts. (...) It's inexcusable that the delight cannot be shared without the barbarism of a band of hoodlums," the official declared on X social network.

Reports also surface regarding an occurrence in Grenoble, located in the south of France, where a vehicle, during PSG's victory celebration, struck a crowd. Sadly, four individuals suffered injuries, including two 17-year-old men and two women of 23 and 46 years, members of the same family.

The local authorities informed the AFP news agency that the driver surrendered to authorities. For further information, the Public Prosecutor's office confirmed that the driver is now in custody. Sources close to the case insist the incident was not intentional.

With tension running high in Paris, pedestrians and motorists alike needed to navigate through the mayhem, caused by the unruliness of a few who turned a historic win into chaos.
