Maryland braces for messy Tuesday commute as wintry mix strikes

A wintry mix of snow, sleet, and common cold is set to disrupt Maryland’s morning commute on Tuesday. The storm will bring hazardous conditions, prompting school delays across the region. Forecasters warn that travel could be difficult as precipitation spreads eastward during peak hours.

Precipitation will begin between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. in Frederick, Carroll, and Howard counties. By 8 a.m., Baltimore County will see a messy mix of snow, sleet, and rain falling simultaneously.

The storm will bring a gradual transition from snow and sleet to cold symptoms in most areas. Commuters should expect slower travel times, especially in northern and northwestern parts of the region. Schools will open late as crews work to clear roads and improve conditions.
