Marvel Studios' "Fantastic Four" movie box office earnings surpass Rs 27 crore after eight days across India
In the world of cinema, Marvel's latest offering, "The Fantastic Four: First Steps (IMAX 3D)", has been making waves. The film, which features a star-studded cast including Oscar-winner Michael Giacchino, Pedro Pascal as Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Human Torch, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing, and Matt Shakman as the director, has been released in the US by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. In India, it is being shown in IMAX 3D for a more immersive viewing experience.
The film's plot is set in an alternate 1960s universe where the Fantastic Four must save Earth from Galactus, played by Ralph Ineson.
In its first week on the Indian box office, "The Fantastic Four: First Steps" earned a total of over Rs 27 crore. However, weekday drops were significant due to intense local competition from successful domestic films like "Saiyaara" and "Mahavatar Narsimha", which drew audiences away. After a decent opening weekend of around Rs 20.1 crore, the film's collection sharply dropped to Rs 1.66 crore on Monday and hovered around the Rs 1.9 crore mark on Tuesday, with the lowest daily collection on Thursday at Rs 46 lakh.
Contrastingly, globally, the film performed strongly, earning over $240 million worldwide by July 30, 2025, and eventually nearing $370 million, becoming the highest-grossing Fantastic Four film ever. Its domestic (U.S. and Canada) box office began with a robust $117 million opening weekend, though it saw a typical second-weekend drop of roughly 66%.
On the eighth day, Friday (August 1), 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps' added approximately Rs 90 lakh across all languages. The film's earnings are distributed: English version - Rs 19.4 crore, Hindi - Rs 6.3 crore, Tamil - Rs 0.72 crore, Telugu - Rs 0.52 crore. On its first Saturday, the film saw a hike of 33.64%, earning Rs 7.35 crore. On Sunday, 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps' earned Rs 7.25 crore.
Despite its success, the release of "The Fantastic Four: First Steps" is not without controversy, as discussions about Jenna Ortega's buccal fat removal surgery have arisen. The internet, however, seems to be less than pleased about this development.
