Simu Liu, the relative newcomer who made a splash in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with his portrayal of Shang-Chi in the 2021 film, is set to return for another action-packed adventure in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.

Liu's second live-action appearance as Shang-Chi will see him joining an all-star cast that includes Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Florence Pugh, Kelsey Grammer, Lewis Pullman, Danny Ramirez, Joseph Quinn, David Harbour, Winston Duke, Hannah John-Kamen, and Tom Hiddleston.

The plot of Doomsday remains shrouded in mystery, with little information available about the characters' interactions. However, Liu has mentioned working alongside Downey Jr., suggesting a potential shared scene. The exact nature of their scenes together is unclear, though it's certain to be a highlight of the movie.

Liu, who expressed feeling anxious about filming with many 'amazing' people in Avengers: Doomsday, seemed to have a more structured experience compared to some of his co-stars. In contrast, Alan Cumming reportedly didn't know who he was supposed to fight or share scenes with during his filming.

The release date for Avengers: Doomsday is next year, and fans are eagerly awaiting more details about the movie. Marvel made them wait for hours to learn the cast, and the excitement is palpable. The fact that so many big names and big characters will be on screen together is going to be incredible.

Liu's return as Shang-Chi in Avengers: Doomsday is particularly notable given the delay in the sequel to his standalone film. Shang-Chi's sequel has not materialized, seemingly frustrating Liu. However, his appearance in Doomsday offers a glimmer of hope for fans eager to see more of the Master of Kung Fu in the MCU.

Director Destin Daniel Cretton, who helmed the first Shang-Chi film, is now handling Spider-Man: Brand New Day. It remains to be seen how this will impact Liu's character in Doomsday, but fans are hopeful for another compelling performance from the talented actor.

In the meantime, Liu has expressed being starstruck while working alongside actors he greatly admires in Avengers: Doomsday. With such a star-studded cast and an enigmatic plot, the movie promises to be a thrilling addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
