Marvel Comics Enters a Fierce Battleground with the Deadly Predator in Upcoming IP Conflict
In the comic book realm, the next big thing isn't just a face-off between Marvel heroes and the Alien or Godzilla. No, not even close! This year, the infamous Predator is stepping into the spotlight with both live-action and animated movies, and Marvel Comics isn't about to let this opportunity pass them by.
First up, the Predator squares off against Black Panther, Wolverine, and Spider-Man (starting this week), in a blockbuster event titled Predator Kills the Marvel Universe. The five-issue book, penned by Ben Percy and illustrated by Marcelo Ferreira, features a Predator King going toe-to-toe with Marvel's most iconic heroes and villains.
In an exclusive interview with IGN, Percy hinted that previous stories would weave their way into this new event, and the Predator will utilize its hunting prowess to make quick work of the assembled Marvel cast. "That title is not misdirection," Percy said. "Your favorite heroes and villains will fall... even as others rise up against this extinction-level event. [...] Earth is now a hunting preserve."
The Yautja's theft of Vibranium in the vs. Black Panther storyline will likely serve as the game changer, evening the playing field against Spider-Man, the X-Men, and the rest of the Marvel heroes. A jaw-dropping finale is on the horizon, and according to Percy, a notable hero may not make it through unscathed. "Every character is on the chopping block. No one's safe, and we're not holding back, so armor up."
