The Legendary Larissa: Martina Hill's Iconic Character
Martina Hill continues to sport a Larissa wig after a quarter-century.
Cologne (dpa) - Martina Hill, a celebrated German comedian, delights in slipping into the role of the flamboyant "Larissa." For 25 years, she's been sporting the signature wig for the part. "I simply loved that look and it was a cool alternative to dying my hair," Hill shared with "TV Digital" in an interview.
"These days, I wouldn't dye my hair like that anymore. Plus, people recognize me more with the wig than when I'm out and about," the 50-year-old explained. Hill's eccentric character is also known from the bubbly show "heute-show," hosted by Oliver Welke.
Larissa Takes Control: "heute-SHOWnal"
On June 27, Hill will steal the show as Larissa. Taking over during Oliver Welke's summer break, Larissa is set to present "heute-SHOWnal: Larissa's Summer" on ZDF at 10:30 PM. With her signature shrill voice, duckface, chewing gum, and long-haired wig, Hill promises an unforgettable evening.
In the "TV Digital" interview, Hill expounded on the unique aspects of the role. The character gives her the freedom to say and do things she wouldn't consider in reality. "There's just no way to dislike her," she explained. Larissa embodies a blend of fun, style, and education, she said. The character's naive art allows her to ask seemingly dumb questions and tackle complex topics.
Layers of Makeup: Transforming into Larissa
According to Hill, transforming into Larissa takes approximately three hours. "I require three tons of makeup, fake nails, loads of jewelry, and chewing gum," she revealed. The 25-year-old long-haired wig, originally from a New Year's party, is also a cornerstone of the character.
Despite Larissa's exaggerated appearance, which parodies Generation Z rather than a specific individual, not everyone identifies her as a fictional character. "I'm frequently taken aback by how many people believe she's a real person," Hill noted.
