Martina Förster-Teutenberg Confirmed as New Mayor of Lünen with 52.27% of Votes

On October 2, 2025, Martina Förster-Teutenberg was officially confirmed as the new mayor of Lünen. She won the runoff election with a clear majority, securing 52.27% of the votes. Despite the search results not revealing the name of the senior official who confirmed her, the election committee officially confirmed her victory.

The runoff election saw a higher voter turnout than the previous one in 2020, with 36.4% of eligible voters casting their ballots. This was a significant increase from the 2020 runoff turnout of 30.7%. In the first round, 51.4% of voters participated.

Dr. Christian Klicki, Förster-Teutenberg's opponent, received 47.73% of the votes in the runoff. The election was decided by a margin of 1,068 votes in favour of Förster-Teutenberg.
