Pakistan Fires Back After Indian Aggression in 'Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos'

In retaliation to the unprovoked missile attacks on several locations, Pakistan launched "Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos" early Saturday morning, the Foreign Office announced. The Spokesperson asserted that only those entities and facilities that planned, coordinated, and executed the blatant aggression and the cold-blooded killing of innocent civilians were targeted.

Pakistan has been experiencing persistent provocations from India, culminating in the launch of multiple strikes during the nights of 7-10 May 2025. These strikes resulted in loss of innocent lives, including women, children, and the elderly. Dozens were seriously injured, and damage was inflicted on infrastructure, including places of worship.

On the intervening night of 6 and 7 May, India breached Pakistan’s sovereign airspace, launching missile attacks and flying killer drones. These attacks were mere additions to the grave situation created by previous acts of aggression. To further endanger regional peace and stability, India sent waves of killers drones across Pakistan, including the federal capital.

These drones and missiles targeted civilian and military assets, causing further human and material losses and instilling a sense of insecurity among the Pakistani people. Multiple missiles were also fired, targeting Pakistani airbases. Despite facing such aggression, Pakistan exercised great restraint but was constrained to respond to ensure the safety and security of its people.

Operation 'Bunyan ul Marsoos' saw Pakistan destroying key Indian airbases - Udhampur and Pathankot. According to reports, at least 10 Indian military locations were hit, including vital airbases and supply depots. Pakistan reported shooting down five Indian fighter jets, including three Rafale jets, and intercepting numerous Indian drones used in the initial attacks.

The negative impact of this ongoing competition between the two nations has been a constant variable of the regional security paradigm. Any cause of the conflict, contrived or actual, cannot be lumped onto any country without due understanding of the genesis and root causes of the problems leading to regional conflicts. Strategic instability in South Asia is a result of the unresolved Jammu and Kashmir dispute, which India has repeatedly attempted to exploit through waging a hybrid campaign against Pakistan and orchestrating terrorism through proxies to destabilize the country.

Pakistan calls upon the international community to restrain India from using the sham narrative of terrorism from Pakistan in order to secure sustainable peace. A forward-looking Pakistan needs support, not indifference from the international community. Pakistan is willing to engage in constructive diplomacy and comprehensive dialogue with India, seeking resolution of all issues, including the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, through peaceful means.

For the sake of regional peace and stability, Pakistan has taken a responsible, mature, and proportionate approach. However, any propensity to escalate this dangerous situation between two nuclear states is fraught with catastrophic consequences for the complete region and beyond. It is imperative to avoid such an approach.
