In the scorching heat of Tarragona, the Spanish Outdoor Championships took centre stage from August 1-3, 2025. Several athletes delivered outstanding performances, setting their sights on the upcoming World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.

Aitana Rodrigo clinched the women's 100m title with a time of 11.30, a performance that puts her in contention for the 4x100 relay team for the World Championships. Rodrigo's victory was a testament to her determination and skill, as she outpaced her rivals in a thrilling race.

Meanwhile, in the men's events, Daniel Arce secured victories in both the 3,000m steeplechase and the semifinals of the 1,500m. Arce's impressive performances in Tarragona have made him a strong contender for the World Championships.

Marta García continued her dominance in the 5,000m, setting a new championship record with a time of 14:59.23. Her race was against the clock, as her rivals couldn't keep up with her pace from the midpoint. García's new record is more than 22 seconds faster than the previous record set by Marta Domínguez in 1998.

In the field events, Diego Casas won his third consecutive title in the men's discus throw with a throw of 62.86m, while Inés López won the discus throw and aims for a difficult double in the shot put after her victory.

Monica Clemente reclaimed the triple jump title after a seven-year gap, winning with a jump of 4.35m. Fátima Diame also shone in the long jump, securing her second outdoor title with a jump of 6.77m.

As the dust settles in Tarragona, the focus now shifts to the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo. However, the official list of Spanish athletes advancing from the Spanish Outdoor Championships to the World Championships has yet to be announced. The Royal Spanish Athletics Federation and the official World Athletics Championships team roster will provide the final list closer to or after the selection process.
