In a surprising turn of events, two high-profile footballers, Adrien Rabiot and Harvey Rowe, were involved in a heated exchange in Marseille's dressing room after Friday's match against Rennes.

The 22-year-old Rowe, who signed from Norwich last year, and Rabiot, with a past affiliation with Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, and currently Marseille, were the centre of the altercation.

Rabiot, a France midfielder, joined Marseille last season after five years with Juventus. His arrival at the club helped Marseille secure a spot in the Champions League. However, his time at Marseille has not been without controversy. In 2019, he had a contract issue with Paris Saint-Germain, leading to his departure. His mother and agent, Veronique, stated that the decision to join Marseille was due to a "lack of commitment" on Rabiot's part.

Rowe, whose current club affiliations were not specified in the previous reports, signed from Norwich last year. In his first season in Ligue 1, he scored three times in 28 games.

The incident in the team room occurred after Marseille managed to win the match despite playing for an hour with 10 men. Rennes won the match with a stoppage-time goal. Initially, Marseille denied a fight took place, but a source close to the club confirmed blows were exchanged between Rabiot and Rowe.

Coach Didier Deschamps did not select Rabiot for two years as a result of his refusal to join the standby list ahead of the 2018 World Cup. At the time of the incident, the coach of Marseille was Roberto De Zerbi. Rabiot's mother and agent stated that De Zerbi made this decision due to a "lack of commitment" on Rabiot's part.

Marseille has since labelled the players' behaviour as "unacceptable" and announced they would be put up for sale. A club statement informed Rabiot and Rowe of this decision on Monday.

This latest incident adds to the ongoing drama surrounding Rabiot and Marseille, and it remains to be seen how this will affect both players' futures at the club.
