Jörg Pilawa Parts Ways with Wife Irina: "It's Logical"

TV personality Jörg Pilawa (59) has opened up about his upcoming divorce for the first time. The popular quiz show host and his wife Irina have lived separately for three years. "We've managed to maintain a good rapport during this time, but a divorce following a separation is simply logical," Pilawa shares in an interview with "Bunte" magazine. He adds, "It's also a form of happiness that things are still going smoothly despite the split."
Maintaining Harmony After Separation
Remarkably, Pilawa continues to enjoy a cordial relationship with his ex-spouse post-separation. According to him, this is possible even when new partners enter the picture. "For me, it's never been an issue not to keep in touch with my wife," the TV celebrity asserts. "And it works to our benefit: New partners weren't the cause of the separation."
From Aspiring Doctor to TV Glitz
Known as a staple on German television, Pilawa has been a household name for over three decades. However, his path to television fame wasn't always clear. In fact, he initially pursued a career in medicine. According to Bild, Pilawa enrolled in medical school shortly after high school graduation. "Admittedly, I never really wanted to be a doctor. It was more my mother's wish," Pilawa confessed in a podcast interview. His decision was influenced by the early death of his father and the numerous hours spent in the hospital during that period.
His journey into the world of media began in 1987 as a sports reporter for Radio Schleswig-Holstein. In 1994, he moved to private station ProSieben as a moderator.
With four children from previous relationships, Pilawa tied the knot with Irina in 2006 in a double ceremony - first in the Congo, followed by a formal German wedding in the summer of 2006.
