Kate Bowman, the wife of former Maroon 5 bassist Mickey Madden, filed for divorce on August 12, 2025, citing irreconcilable differences just three months after they tied the knot on May 6, 2025. The filing came after a series of serious allegations, including domestic violence, surfaced.
The divorce proceedings followed an incident on July 21, 2025, where Bowman accused Madden of physically assaulting her during a confrontation over his alleged sexting with teenage girls. Bowman described Madden as going 'insane' after she raised the issue, and she was reportedly restrained, slammed against a kitchen counter, shoved to the ground, chased barefoot, and shoved against a gate while he allegedly tried to drag her back into the house.
Bowman had previously requested a restraining order against Madden on July 30, stating she was "terrified" of him. She included ring camera footage as evidence in her filing. A Los Angeles Superior Court judge granted Bowman a temporary restraining order, preventing Madden from approaching within 100 yards of her person, place of business, residence, or vehicle.
The alleged abuse occurred a year after Madden had left Maroon 5 in 2020 following a prior unrelated domestic violence arrest. The text-related allegations against Madden were first pointed out to Bowman by a stranger. Bowman is asking for a permanent restraining order, spousal support, and division of assets, including custody of their Siberian Husky dogs named Jam and Toast.
Bowman has started working a job and has put a deposit down for an apartment. She is seeking expenses, in addition to the aforementioned requests. No criminal charges have been publicly filed yet, and Madden has not responded to the allegations, reportedly being in rehab currently.
The couple had no children together, so there are no child custody or support issues to address. Madden stepped away from Maroon 5 in July of 2020. The restraining order hearing is scheduled for August 20, 2025, where Bowman plans to seek a permanent order and financial support.
