On Monday, Germany is set to experience a significant shift in weather conditions, with local heavy rainfall events and possible thunderstorms expected across the country. According to meteorological forecasts, mean wind speeds of around 5 m/s, low cloud bases, and thin convective available potential energy (CAPE) profiles will lead to localized heavy rain, particularly over mountainous areas.

This weather pattern will result in waves of showers and storms driven by synoptic-scale lifts, with Germany experiencing scattered showers and thunderstorms, although the strongest severe weather threat is more associated with neighbouring Switzerland.

On Monday, after a heatwave and high humidity, thunderstorms with high water capacity are expected, increasing the risk of torrential downpours and potential urban flooding. There is also a marginal risk for severe storms including damaging winds and possibly tornadoes, although these severe events are less likely within Germany itself.

Meteorologist Stückle predicts this change in the weather pattern at the beginning of next week. In Mannheim, temperatures are expected to climb to about 21-22°C under mostly cloudy skies, with a chance of rain showers in the afternoon.

As the week progresses, the weather is expected to remain unsettled, with variable cloudiness and rain showers continuing into the following days. The south and mountainous regions of Germany will be particularly affected by these heavy rain and storm events.

However, the wind will be minor in the coming days, aside from brief periods of strong to stormy winds in connection with showers and thunderstorms. On Sunday, in addition to dense clouds, scattered showers and individual thunderstorms are expected across Germany.

Maximum temperatures on Sunday will remain moderately warm, ranging from 17 to 24 degrees Celsius. In northern Germany, a storm is expected to cause windiness, with gusts reaching storm force at the coasts and in the high north.

By the end of the week, a final cold front is expected to move from northwest to southeast on Tuesday, potentially marking the end of this period of wet and cool weather. As summer approaches, the south of Germany will gradually become partly sunny, with temperatures gradually rising.

In summary, Monday marks a transition to cooler, wetter conditions with sporadic heavy rain and storms across Germany, particularly in the south and mountainous regions, possibly continuing into the following days with variable cloudiness and rain showers. Severe weather potential is present but not dominant within Germany itself according to current forecasts.

  1. Meteorologist Stückle's prediction indicates a shift in weather patterns on Monday, including thunderstorms with high water capacity, which could potentially lead to urban flooding in Germany.
  2. The weather-forecasting data suggests that for the following days, the south and mountainous regions of Germany will be more affected by heavy rain and storm events.
