Mark Kastelic emerges as Boston Bruins’ unsung hero this season

Mark Kastelic has become a reliable presence for the Boston Bruins this season. Originally traded from the Ottawa Senators in 2024, he arrived as part of the deal that sent goaltender Linus Ullmark to Ottawa. Now, his performance has made him a key player in the team’s bottom six.

Kastelic joined the Bruins with little fanfare, and even head coach Marco Sturm admitted he knew little about the forward at first. Over the past three months, however, Sturm has watched Kastelic develop into a dependable option. His ice time has jumped from 10:44 per game last season to 13:43 this year, reflecting his growing role.

Kastelic’s increased ice time and faceoff success have solidified his place in the lineup. With injuries testing Boston’s depth, his consistency provides stability. The Bruins will look to him as they push through the rest of the season.
