Mario Basler Plays Himself in 'Sturm der Liebe' - Mario Basler trades football boots for soap opera drama in Storm of Love

Former footballer Mario Basler is stepping into a new role as a talent scout—on screen. The ex-Bayern Munich player will guest-star in the long-running ARD telenovela Storm of Love. His first appearance comes in episode 4,542, set to air on February 20.

Storm of Love follows the lives of staff and guests at the fictional Fürstenhof Hotel in Bichlheim. Most scenes are filmed at Bavaria Film’s studios in Grünwald, though some shoots take place around Munich. The show airs weekdays at 3:10 p.m. on ARD and is also available in the ARD Media Library.

Basler will play a scout for the fictional Munich club Weiß-Gold. His character, named Tim Toupet, appears in three episodes. The footballer-turned-actor described his time on set as 'a really cool experience'.

Basler’s guest role marks a brief but notable crossover between sports and soap opera. The episodes featuring him will begin airing from February 20. Fans can catch his performances on ARD or stream them via the network’s media library.
