Mariners triumph in a landslide victory over White Sox, with Eugenio Suárez hitting a home run in support of Bryan Woo's stellar pitching performance.

Mariners Secure Victory Behind Bryan Woo's Dominant Performance

After reuniting with Suárez at the trade deadline last week, the Seattle Mariners have been on a roll, improving to 4-1. On Monday night, the team secured another win, thanks to the stellar pitching of Bryan Woo.

Woo, who did not play for the Mariners in the 2022 season, has shone brightly since his arrival, particularly in 2024 and 2025. In 2024, he went 9-3 with a 2.89 ERA and 101 strikeouts in over 121 innings across 21 starts. In 2025, he continued his impressive form, posting a 3.02 ERA with a 0.94 WHIP and a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 136:25.

Against the White Sox on Monday, Woo threw a seven-inning gem, allowing only one run. He retired the final 16 batters he faced and matched his career high with nine strikeouts in the game.

The Mariners' offense provided Woo with the support he needed. In the second inning, Dominic Canzone hit a 405-foot homer to tie the score at 1-1. Canzone, who was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma in early June, also homered for the Mariners, marking his seventh of the season and his first since July 3.

Josh Naylor, who has been impressive since joining the team, also homered twice for the Mariners. He stole two bases in the sixth inning, making him 8 for 8 in stolen-base attempts in 11 games with the Mariners. Naylor scored on Jorge Polanco's two-run single.

Adam Eugenio Suárez, who returned to Seattle after a brief absence, also contributed to the Mariners' offense, hitting a two-run home run, his 37th of the season.

The Mariners' victory has moved them into the second AL wild-card spot, ahead of the Yankees and 2.5 games back of the Red Sox for the top spot. However, they remain three games back of the Astros in the AL West.

As the Mariners continue their push for the playoffs, the contributions of players like Woo, Canzone, Naylor, and Suárez will be crucial. With their combined efforts, the Mariners are well on their way to making a strong run in the second half of the season.

Bryan Woo's exceptional pitching performance, highlighted by a seven-inning gem against the White Sox, has been instrumental in the Seattle Mariners' winning streak, moving them into the second AL wild-card spot. After his impressive form in both 2024 and 2025, Woo has proven to be a valuable addition to the team. As the Mariners strive for a playoff spot, their success will depend largely on the contributions of players like Bryan Woo, Dominic Canzone, Josh Naylor, and Adam Eugenio Suárez in Seattle's baseball-focused sports landscape, specifically the MLB.
