Marina Kovaleva Wins Russian Marathon Championship
On Sunday, May 4th, 2025, the bustling Kazan Marathon took place in the capital of Tatarstan.
The well-known runner from Omsk, Marina Kovaleva, claimed the runner-up spot in the 42.2 km race. She trailed 63 seconds behind the Kenyan athlete, Judith Cherono, who clocked a time of 2:29:23.
However, Kovaleva secured the title of Russian champion as the Kazan races held an added status as higher-level domestic competitions.
As a refresher, Marina Kovaleva, aged 40, has triumphed thrice at the Siberian International Marathon and twice at the Moscow International Marathon.
