Union Striker Marin Ljubicic Joins Düsseldorf on Loan - Marin Ljubičić joins Fortuna Düsseldorf on loan from Union Berlin

Striker Marin Ljubičić has left 1. FC Union Berlin on loan for the rest of the season. The 2025 signing from Austria will now play for Fortuna Düsseldorf in the 2025/26 campaign. His move follows limited game time under Union's head coach Steffen Baumgart.

Ljubičić arrived at Union Berlin in early 2025 but struggled to secure regular playing time. Despite an eye-catching Bundesliga debut—where he scored a goal and provided an assist against Hoffenheim—he only started once for the club. Over the season, he made just two substitute appearances.

Fortuna Düsseldorf, managed by Markus Anfang, confirmed the loan in their official staff listing and January 2026 match reports. Ljubičić will spend the remainder of the season with the 2. Bundesliga side, seeking more opportunities on the pitch.

The loan deal offers Ljubičić a chance to regain form with regular football. Fortuna Düsseldorf will benefit from his attacking contributions for the rest of the 2025/26 season. Meanwhile, Union Berlin's squad depth remains unchanged by the temporary departure.
