The image shows a group of three firefighters wearing helmets and jackets, one of them holding a pipe and spraying water on a container. In the background, there are trees and a clear blue sky, and on the left side of the image there is a metal object and a pipe. This scene is likely part of a firefighting training program, as the firefighters are using the pipe to put out a fire.

Mare rescued after icy plunge when equestrian fence collapses in Italy

A mare was rescued in Ponte Parrano after falling into an icy stream when an equestrian centre's fence collapsed. The animal plunged roughly four metres into the water and was unable to get back on its feet.

The incident began when the fence surrounding the equestrian centre gave way. The animal tumbled into the stream below, landing in freezing water. Firefighters arrived quickly to assist.

They used specialised slings and a winch to lift the animal safely from the stream. Despite the cold and the fall, the animal remained conscious throughout the rescue. Once freed, it was immediately transported to a nearby veterinarian for assessment.

The animal is now recovering well after the ordeal. Veterinarians confirmed it suffered no serious injuries from the fall or the icy water. Its condition continues to improve under observation.
