Marchment traded to Blue Jackets by Kraken
The Columbus Blue Jackets have acquired forward Mason Marchment in a trade with the Seattle Kraken. The 30-year-old brings experience from four NHL teams and is set to debut against the Anaheim Ducks this weekend. General manager Don Waddell called the move an exciting addition for the squad.
Marchment was traded on Friday in exchange for a 2027 second-round pick and a 2026 fourth-round pick. The latter was originally obtained from the New York Rangers. His arrival comes as he nears the end of a four-year, $18 million deal signed with the Dallas Stars.
The forward began this season with 13 points in 29 games. Over his career, he has recorded 202 points across 331 matches with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Florida Panthers, Stars, and Kraken. Seattle had acquired him from Dallas in June for two draft selections. Head coach Dean Evason highlighted Marchment’s competitive edge, calling his style 'dreamy' for its intensity. The Blue Jackets expect him to bring physicality and scoring ability to the lineup.
Marchment will take the ice for Columbus in their next game on Saturday. The trade strengthens the Blue Jackets’ roster as they look to improve their season. His contract status and draft picks exchanged mark a significant move for both teams involved.
