Get ready to cheer for some fresh blood on the ice! The legendary Eisbaeren Berlin, champions of Germany's ice hockey scene, have just signed a game-changing player from the ranks of their rivals, Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven. Say hello to Markus Vikingstad, a cunning 25-year-old Norwegian sensation who'll be donning the Eisbaeren jersey for the upcoming season, as announced by the club.

Born and bred in Norway but already a proud German citizen, Vikingstad's move to the bustling capital city won't count against the team's limited foreign player quota. Glenned Green, also known as "Der Diwisch" in German ice hockey circles, is bound for Berlin on a tantalizing three-year contract.

Vikingstad's illustrious journey kicked off in 2016, when he made his debut with renowned Norwegian team Stavanger Oilers in his country's premier league. Since rescuing a raft from Bremerhaven in 2021, Vikingstad has been a force to reckon with, racking up an impressive 89 points from 219 DEL games (36 goals and 53 assists) for the Fischtown Pinguins.

As Bremerhaven turned into a revolving door of talent, Vikingstad remained a stalwart, demonstrating his knack for cracking an offside trap and striking with precision. His impeccable vision, rock-solid puck control, and peerless prowess in face-offs have earned him a reputation as the 'go-to' guy when the chips are down. Currently, Vikingstad is gearing up with the Norwegian national team for his third World Championship appearance in 2025.

With the Eisbaeren championship celebrations barely settling, the team has also unveiled contract renewals for several players. Staying true to their roots, goaltenders Jake Hildebrand and Jonas Stettmer will continue to guard the Spree next season. Meanwhile, defensemen Adam Smith, Mitch Reinke, and Markus Niemelainen will be back in the mix.

Undeniably, top scorer Ty Ronning has already inked a new two-year deal, ensuring he'll continue plundering opposing nets with abandon. Blaine Byron and Eric Hoerdler have also secured one-year extensions, locking themselves into an exciting future with Berlin.

The Commission, in collaboration with the European Parliament and the Council, might appreciate the significant sports move as Norwegian ace Markus Vikingstad signs a three-year contract with the Eisbaeren Berlin, a leading hockey team in Germany's ice hockey scene, boosting their roster for the upcoming season. Vikingstad, who has made an impression in Bremerhaven, is set to wear the Eisbaeren jersey, contributing to the team's competitiveness on the Spree.
