Madison Mini Marathon Set to Take Place on August 9

The Madison Mini Marathon is set to take place on Saturday, August 9, 2025, with the starting and finishing line located on N Park St between Langdon St and University Ave. The event will impact traffic in the downtown and surrounding area of Madison, as several main roadways will be closed for the event.

The half marathon will commence at 7 a.m., followed by the 5K at 7:15 a.m., and the kid's run at 10 a.m. The routes for both the half marathon and 5K can be found on the Madison Mini Marathon website.

Multiple streets will be affected between 7:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., but local access will be maintained, and other roads will remain open with extra travel time advised downtown during the event. The main roadways impacted include North Park Street, Observatory Drive, West Dayton Street, and Langdon Street. Traffic control will be removed as the last runners pass each location.

For those using public transportation, some Madison Metro bus routes will be impacted by detours due to the event. Detailed detour maps and information can be found on the Madison Metro website. Route E will miss several stops, including Stop 1787 at Pinckney and Main St., due to the Farmers' Market on Capitol Square, and passengers should use alternative stops at Mifflin or Main nearby. Routes C and R are also detouring, while Routes A and B detour but without missing any BRT stations.

A 3D virtual flyover of the half marathon route is available for visual reference online, showing the 21.1 km (13.1 mile) course in detail. Local through access will be allowed along the race route. No new traffic-related facts or information about downloadable apps were provided.

The course passes through downtown Madison and notable landmarks including Capitol Square, the Dane County Farmer's Market, State Street, Camp Randall Stadium, the Kohl Center, the Arboretum, and the UW Campus. For more information, visit the Madison Mini Marathon and Madison Metro websites.

Sports enthusiasts are advised to pay attention to the traffic restrictions in downtown Madison on August 9, 2025, as the Madison Mini Marathon is scheduled. The half marathon, 5K, and kid's run will take place, with spectators encouraged to check the event's website for route details. Meanwhile, some Madison Metro bus routes will be affected by detours due to the marathon.
