On Thursday, an encounter between security forces and Naxals in the Gangaloor area of Bijapur district resulted in the death of two Naxals. The identities of the deceased are yet to be confirmed, but they are believed to be Bhagat (alias Rajesh) and Mahantesh. The encounter took place around 3 PM in the south-western part of the district.
In a tragic turn of events, Maoists also killed Dasaruram Ayam (36) in Benchram under Jangla police station in Bijapur district on Tuesday night. Ayam was reportedly axed to death by the Maoists.
In a separate incident in Dantewada district, Maoists killed Bondi Korram (55) in Nilbaya village under Aran police station on Tuesday night. Korram's body was found near his house late on Tuesday night. It is believed that Korram had gone to a fellow villager's house on Tuesday night and did not return. Korram's son was killed by Maoists a few months ago.
In a positive development, 12 Maoists surrendered in Narayanpur under south Bastar, carrying a cumulative bounty of Rs 18 lakh. Two area committee members (ACMs) among the surrendered Naxals had a reward of Rs five lakh each.
