Manitoba is under investigation for a suspected tornado by the ECCC.
A potential tornado was reported near Belleview, Manitoba on Tuesday night, but as of the latest updates on August 6 and 7, 2025, Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has not yet confirmed it as a tornado. ECCC is actively investigating the report.
On Wednesday morning, August 6, ECCC confirmed that they received a report of a "likely tornado" near Belleview, southwest of Brandon. However, the tornado remains unconfirmed pending further investigation.
Storm chaser Cory Penner was in Saskatchewan following a storm on Tuesday, but he found another storm system in Manitoba and followed it until he saw a tornado. Penner described the road conditions as wet and muddy while approaching the potential tornado site. He observed a tornado for a few brief instances, but no definitive confirmation or further details on the investigation have been released.
Meteorologists are investigating the event in Belleview, and Penner's observations contribute to the ongoing investigation. Penner captured a "nice thick tornado" on camera, but it lasted only a couple of seconds. Another "wispy tornado" was also seen by Penner at the potential tornado site, but it was brief.
ECCC is requesting pictures of the potential tornado or any damage it may have caused from the public. The public can submit pictures or reports to ECCC by calling 1-800-239-0484 or emailing [email protected].
Additional storm activity in Manitoba reported on those days included funnel clouds near Dugald and large hail near Stonewall, but those were separate events.
