Manchester United's potential bid for Benjamin Sesko appears set to be ACCEPTED, causing turbulence for Newcastle United who face another takeover attempt disruption
Headline: Benjamin Sesko Likely to Join Manchester United Over Newcastle United, According to Reports
Newcastle United could potentially lose their star striker Alexander Isak to rivals Liverpool before the closure of the summer transfer window, while Benjamin Sesko, a highly sought-after Slovenian centre-forward, is more likely to transfer to Manchester United, according to recent developments.
Sesko has signaled a clear desire to join Manchester United despite Newcastle offering a slightly higher overall bid. Manchester United are in advanced discussions with RB Leipzig and are confident of winning the race if it comes down to a straight choice between the two Premier League clubs. Although Newcastle can offer Champions League football, the player’s preference for Manchester United appears decisive.
Newcastle had made an improved bid around £69.7m plus add-ons, aiming to secure Sesko as their striker, but failed to secure him so far despite multiple attempts and competition from Manchester United. Manchester United’s approach involves a package with less money upfront but remains competitive overall, and the club has been actively negotiating the payment structure with Leipzig.
Meanwhile, Liverpool made a £110m offer for Alexander Isak last week, which was rejected. There is skepticism about the sincerity of Liverpool's assertion that they will not return for Isak later in the window. No new information about RB Leipzig's response to Newcastle's latest Sesko offer was provided.
If successful with their Sesko approach, Manchester United's spending on attackers this summer would exceed £200m. There is supposed confidence at Old Trafford that Sesko would prefer a move to Manchester United over Newcastle. Newcastle United were previously the only club to make a formal proposal in that price range.
In the meantime, Callum Wilson, a previous forward for Newcastle, chose to leave Tyneside on a free transfer and joined West Ham United. Newcastle's current striking options are limited to Alexander Isak, Danish youth international Will Osula, and no other named players.
Manchester United have formally entered the race for Slovenian centre-forward Benjamin Sesko, while Liverpool are widely expected to return for Alexander Isak later in the transfer window, provided Newcastle can source a replacement. The race for top talent in the Premier League continues to heat up.
