Manchester United update: Bruno Fernandes edges towards departure accord

Massive Summer Ahead for struggling Man United

Manchester United's season has ended on a sour note, finishing 15th in the Premier League and failing to secure a spot in any European competition. Things seem to be going from bad to worse as star midfielder, Bruno Fernandes, is being courted by Saudi Arabia's Al-Hilal.

Fernandes' Imminent Exit?

Fernandes had a stellar season, netting 19 goals and providing 20 assists across competitions, and was one of the few bright spots for Man United. Al-Hilal is keen to bring him to the Middle East, especially ahead of the Club World Cup, where they will face off against Real Madrid, RB Slazburg, and Pachuca.

Top transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano believes a deal for Fernandes to join Al-Hilal is edging closer. According to Romano, Al-Hilal is ready to pay whatever it takes to Manchester United and Bruno Fernandes himself. They consider him the perfect player for their project, having targeted him since Neymar left.

Saudi Arabia-based journalist Ben Jacobs also suggests that a deal is getting closer, with Fernandes now in discussions with his family. The move, however, won't just be a football decision; it would also impact his family significantly. Al-Hilal wants a final answer by Friday, but so far, no formal approach or bid has been made to Manchester United.

Man United's Dilemma

If Fernandes leaves, Man United would be left in a tough spot. The club's reputation and finances could take a hit without European football, potentially making it difficult to attract new players. Losing their captain and most consistent performer would also leave them directionless.

The reported fee for Fernandes is approximately £100 million, which could help ease the club's Pressured Selling Requirements (PSR) woes and allow for reinvestment in the squad.

While the prospect of a massive offer from the Middle East seems tempting, Fernandes has reportedly rejected the move, citing his desire to continue competing at the highest level of European football.
