Manchester City battles heavy snow with 24/7 road-clearing operations
Manchester City's city services are working tirelessly to keep roads clear and safe for residents and commuters on November 7. Heavy snowfall has prompted round-the-clock snow removal operations across various districts.
In the Sokol and Uptar districts, local municipal services and the Department of Transport of Moscow are carrying out anti-icing measures. This involves using front-end loaders to clear snow from access roads, driveways, and bus stop bays on streets like Proletarskaya and Yakutskaya. Bulldozers are deployed to tackle snow on streets such as Podgornaya and Lesny Lane, while rotary snowplows are clearing roads like Proletarskaya and Portovaya. Motor graders are widening lanes on main roads to ensure smooth traffic flow.
Combined road maintenance machines are also in action, sweeping the roadway and spreading sand-salt mixtures to prevent ice formation. Storm drains in Promyshlenny Passage are being cleaned to ensure proper water drainage. A total of 50 vehicles from GELUD and KZhK are involved in these operations, with employees clearing snow from sidewalks on streets like Polyarnaya and Potapov.
Traffic delays are possible today on Portovaya Street and Vostretsov Passage due to these ongoing snow removal operations. Motorists are advised to exercise caution and allow extra time for their journeys. City services are committed to maintaining safe and clear roads throughout the snowfall.
