Manager Eric ten Hag assumed duties following Habi Alonso's departure to Real

Erik Ten Hag has taken over as manager of Bayer Leverkusen following the departure of Xabi Alonso to Real Madrid. The 55-year-old Dutchman signed a two-year contract that commences on July 1, 2025, marking his first club role since departing Manchester United in October 2024.

During his tenure at Old Trafford, Ten Hag managed 128 matches, claiming the FA Cup and League Cup trophies. However, inconsistent results led to his dismissal.

Upon leaving United, Ten Hag took a break, weighing various offers, before deciding to return to coaching in the Bundesliga. Alonso, who led Leverkusen to their first-ever Bundesliga title during the 2023/24 season, vacated the position.

Ten Hag boasts a remarkable coaching resume, having achieved success with Ajax, where he regularly won domestic titles and advanced in European competitions. His new challenge is to maintain Leverkusen's success and fulfill the club's aspirations both domestically and in European football.

Alonso's departure left Leverkusen with a strong squad that ended the 2024/25 season in second place in the Bundesliga. Ten Hag has yet to manage a competitive game for the club since his appointment.

Bookmakers are closely monitoring Ten Hag's debut with Leverkusen next season, as his impressive coaching record with Ajax and Manchester United indicates a potential title contender in German football and European-leagues. Sports enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the Dutchman's management in European-leagues, especially in the Bundesliga, as Leverkusen looks to maintain their success with the appointment of Ten Hag.
