Kicking Up a Fuss in Karlsruhe

cops've brought the heat down on seven lefty agitators, swinging the book at them for criminal organization activities. The alleged ringleader, Johann G., is among them, along with six other suspects who've been nabbed for membership in a lefty extremist crew. Sounds like this group's a real rabble rousing bunch, eh?

Officers nabbed Johann G. last November on a train near Weimar. Turns out, they'd been tracking him for a spell 'cause of his ties to Lina E., the group's supposedly key gun-toting gal.

Going Postal (AndViolent)

Authorities have had their eyes on this lefty crew for some time now. Allegedly, they've been beating the drum for extreme left-wing views and carrying out attacks on some unsuspecting right-wing folks across multiple years. They've prepared their assaults meticulously, even spying on targets during their daily routines.

The accused face charges for participating in a criminal organization, attempted murder, causing grievous bodily harm, property damage, and grand larceny. Four of 'em are behind bars, while three others are still evading capture.

Got 'Em in Budapest Too

It ain't just the German turf these lefty lunatics have been messing with. Johann G. and another defendant are also said to have teamed up with some buddies and dished out violence to right-wingers in Budapest in February 2023. Maybe they thought they could brush off their actions as a pub crawl gone wild, but several folks got hurt in the melee.

In connection with the Budapest attack, several previously untraceable individuals came clean and surfaced to the cops. Their lawyers didn't want to see 'em shipped off to Hungary, though. They argued that Hungarian trials might hand out unjustly long sentences, and that the legal process there didn't meet basic standards.

Maja's Trial Down Under

Another interesting case saw the arrest and extradition of Maja, a self-proclaimed non-binary individual, to Hungary in June 2024. Hungarian authorities accuse Maja of participating in the Budapest attacks, just like the other suspects.

The German Federal Constitutional Court initially refused to extradite Maja, but it was too little, too late. By the time they'd waved a red flag, Maja was already in Hungarian custody. In the main proceedings, the court deemed the extradition inadmissible, but Maja's stuck in trial since February.

As for Lina E., she's already serving time. A court in Dresden convicted her in 2023 for membership in a criminal organization and causing grievous bodily harm. The Federal Court of Justice confirmed the verdict, and it's now the law of the land. Her sentence's still up in the air, as it includes pretrial detention.
