Man rescued in Dehradun deluge: Farmer survives ordeal by hanging on to a pole for hours

In the heart of Uttarakhand, India, a dramatic rescue operation unfolded during the region's relentless monsoon season. A farmer found himself stranded on an electricity pole in Dehradun, after sudden flash floods cut off his escape routes while he was working in the fields.

The farmer was stranded for nearly five hours, clinging to the pole as the Tons river region experienced heavy rain and swelling waters. The incident went viral on social media, with many praising the farmer's resilience and the bravery of those who rescued him.

Rescue operations were launched by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and local police. Using ropes and safety gear, rescuers carefully approached the stranded man and pulled him to safety in a high-risk operation. The farmer suffered only minor injuries during the incident.

Locals praised the rescue team's determination, calling it a 'miracle of courage and timing.' The farmer's rescue operation, amidst the heavy rain and swelling waters, has been hailed as a display of human grit against nature's fury.

Uttarakhand has been experiencing relentless rain this season, causing landslides, overflowing rivers, and damage to property and farmland. Authorities have advised residents in vulnerable areas to stay alert and avoid approaching swollen rivers.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a US woman, aged 71, who came to India to marry an NRI man was killed. NRIs who missed the ITR deadline can still file their returns, but they will be subject to fines.

The farmer's rescue story serves as a reminder of the resilience and bravery of people in the face of adversity, and the crucial role of emergency services in times of crisis.
