'Man on the Run' reveals Paul McCartney's raw post-Beatles reinvention

A new documentary, 'Man on the Run', delves into Paul McCartney's struggles post-Beatles. It explores his emotional turmoil and reinvention as a solo artist, premiering in cinemas before streaming on Prime Video on 27 February 2026.

The Beatles' split, which began with John Lennon's private departure in September 1969 and became official with McCartney's announcement in April 1970, left McCartney facing blame for the group's demise. After retreating to a remote farm in Scotland, he recorded his first solo album, 'McCartney', almost entirely alone, marking a departure from the Beatles' polished sound.

By 1971, he released 'Ram' and formed Wings with Linda and other musicians, launching a new chapter with their debut, 'Wild Life'.

In the documentary, McCartney admits to 'swallowing' the blame for the breakup and describes his resilience during this turbulent period. His solo work and the formation of Wings became defining steps in his post-Beatles journey. 'Man on the Run' will offer fans a closer look at this pivotal era when it arrives on Prime Video next year.
