'Man on the Run' Reveals Paul McCartney's Post-Beatles Struggle and Triumph

A new documentary, titled 'Man on the Run', delves into Paul McCartney's struggles following the Beatles' breakup. The film explores McCartney's emotional turmoil and reinvention as a solo artist, set to premiere in cinemas before streaming on Prime Video on 27 February 2026.

The Beatles' split was a gradual process. John Lennon privately left the band in September 1969, but Paul McCartney's public announcement in April 1970 officially confirmed the breakup. For years, McCartney faced blame for the band's demise.

After the split, McCartney retreated to a remote farm in Scotland with his wife, Linda, and their children. Battling self-doubt, he recorded his first solo album, 'McCartney', almost entirely alone. The lo-fi project, released in 1970, marked a sharp departure from the Beatles' polished sound.

By 1971, he followed up with 'Ram', another deeply personal album. That same December, he formed Wings with Linda and other musicians. Their debut, 'Wild Life', arrived just weeks later, launching a new chapter in his career.

In the documentary, McCartney admits to 'swallowing' the blame for the breakup. He describes absorbing criticism and shouldering accusations, even as the split stemmed from broader tensions within the band.

The film, 'Man on the Run', sheds light on McCartney's resilience during a turbulent period. His solo work and the formation of Wings became defining steps in his post-Beatles journey. The documentary will offer fans a closer look at this pivotal era when it arrives on Prime Video next year.
