The man arrested in connection with the vehicular incident that occurred during Liverpool Football Club's victory parade has been identified as Paul Doyle, a 53-year-old married businessman with three teenage children. Doyle is now in custody, facing multiple charges of attempted murder, dangerous driving, driving under the influence of drugs, and actual bodily harm in the May 26 event that injured 79 people, including four children, on Water Street in Liverpool.
Doyle's neighbors have described him as a "straight family man" with "well-behaved children" residing in a four-bedroom detached property in a quiet cul-de-sac in West Derby, north of the city centre. They have expressed shock, as the incident seems to be out of character for the "nice family" that lives in their neighborhood.
A car, driven by Doyle, allegedly struck pedestrians at speeds of up to 30mph near the city's waterfront, which had been closed to traffic. As of now, seven people remain hospitalized, although they are reportedly in stable condition and recovering well.
