Bryan Adams, the renowned Canadian singer-songwriter, has a special connection with his Gibson Les Paul guitar. The instrument, used extensively during the recording and live performances of his iconic album, Reckless, holds a significant place in his music history. However, a regrettable decision led Adams to part ways with the guitar, only to be reunited with it years later.

In the late '80s, Adams sold the Gibson Les Paul that he used for live performances on several songs. The guitar, which took a beating over the years, was a stock model off the shelf. After the sale, Adams began to favour another guitar, the ES-295. Regret set in for Adams when he started seeing pictures of himself playing the Gibson Les Paul on the internet.

Fast forward to 2005, a record store signing presented Adams with an opportunity to buy back his long-lost Gibson Les Paul. The buyer, who was in hard times, offered to sell it back to Adams. The deal was struck, and Adams was once again in possession of the guitar that he felt had done justice to the Reckless era.

Adams wasted no time in re-recording Summer of '69 with the Gibson Les Paul after the purchase. The song, one of his most famous hits, holds a special place in his heart. Interestingly, Adams believes that only one pop star has done justice to a version of Summer of '69, but he has not disclosed the name. However, in a recent interview, he did mention Taylor Swift as the pop star who comes closest.

Another Gibson Les Paul was used on Reckless by Adams during the recording sessions. This one was a 1980s model, which Adams also used on several other songs throughout his career. Despite the sentimental value of the Gibson Les Paul, Adams continues to create music, his love for music and his passion for the guitar undiminished.

In an era where digital instruments are becoming increasingly popular, the story of Bryan Adams and his Gibson Les Paul serves as a reminder of the enduring charm of traditional instruments in rock music.
