Man, 60, Arrested After Impersonating Cop to Steal Corvette
A 60-year-old man, later identified as Angel Emilio Diez, attempted a brazen theft at the Hard Rock Hollywood. Diez impersonated a police officer to try and take a Chevy Corvette from the valet. His actions led to multiple charges and a likely significant prison break sentence.
Diez approached the valet workers, claiming to be a law enforcement officer. He insisted on 'confiscating' a Chevy Corvette. Before the staff could react, Diez jumped into the vehicle and sped off. The staff swiftly notified police, who managed to block Diez's escape and arrest him.
During the arrest, Diez was found with marijuana and attempted to hide it. Despite his claims of not intending to steal the car, surveillance footage and witness accounts contradicted this. Diez's criminal history also worked against him. He was already wanted on a warrant from a 2023 crime and had failed to appear in court. His previous noncompliance and long rap sheet suggest he may face a substantial prison sentence.
Diez now faces charges of impersonating a law enforcement officer, grand theft auto, trespassing, and tampering with physical evidence. His actions at the Hard Rock Hollywood have landed him in serious legal trouble. With his previous noncompliance and criminal history, Diez is likely to receive a significant prison sentence.
