Malaysia Braces for Monsoon Surge with Heavy Rain and Rough Seas Ahead
Heavy rain and rough seas are set to hit parts of Malaysia in the coming days. A monsoon surge between December 14 and 18 will bring continuous downpours to the peninsula’s east coast and western Sarawak. Authorities have issued warnings for strong winds and hazardous sea conditions during this period.
MetMalaysia’s Director-General, Dr. Mohd Hisham Mohd Anip, released a weather bulletin on December 12, 2025, outlining the risks. A Continuous Rain (Alert) warning is now active for Sarawak from December 13 to 16. The same system will also affect east coast states, including Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, and Johor, from December 14 to 16.
The warnings highlight the need for caution along coastal areas and at sea. Heavy rain, strong winds, and rough waters could disrupt travel and outdoor activities. MetMalaysia will continue monitoring the situation and provide further updates as needed.
