Kochi Rapper Vedan Busted for Ganja Possession

You know who's in hot water now? Malayalam rap artist Vedan, aka Hirandas Murali, from Thrissur district. Hill Palace police snapped him up, along with seven others, after a tip-off lead to a search of his pad in Tripunithura, Kochi.

During a raid, a whopping six grams of ganja was discovered, along with mobile phones and about Rs 9.5 lakh in cash[1][2]. The dough seemed to be performance fees for a music gig, according to the police.

Post-arrest, these individuals will undergo health checks and some procedural stuff, then presumably be slapped with station bail. The authorities will also probe the origin of the grabbers.

Interestingly, Vedan, with a big youth following, was often seen crusading against drug abuse during his shows[3].

This impediment comes at a time when there's a heavier focus on narcotics cases in the Malayalam entertainment scene. The day prior, two movie directors, Khalid Rahman and Ashraf Hamsa, were detained for hybrid ganja possession in Kochi[3].

Previously, actor Shine Tom Chacko was collared in a drug case and made his escapey during a raid[3].
