Malay court postpones Ilham Tower's information disclosure to MACC for the moment.

In a significant development, the High Court has scheduled a hearing for Naimah Khalid's bid to commence judicial review proceedings, challenging the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC)'s second seizure of Ilham Tower. The second seizure, undertaken under Section 51(1) of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act (Amla), follows an initial seizure of Ilham Tower under the MACC Act in December 2023. However, Naimah's legal team alleges that the second seizure is "pure harassment" as MACC had already seized the building. Naimah, the widow of Daim Zainuddin, has named several respondents in her action, including MACC investigating officer Rahi Rahhim @ Rahim, deputy public prosecutor Ahmad Akram Gharib, MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki, MACC, and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. The persons named in the legal action against the securing of Ilham Tower are not specified in the provided information. Naimah accuses the Prime Minister of exerting undue influence over the matter. The court case involves the two companies, Ilham Tower and Ilham Baru, and their company secretary. The court has decided that any disclosure to MACC regarding the two companies can only be carried out with the consent of the firms' director and their client, Naimah Khalid. An affidavit affirmed by Naimah reveals that the company secretary was served with an order under Section 30(1)(b) of the MACC Act, compelling the disclosure of all documents related to the two companies. The court has ordered that cause papers be served to MACC, allowing Naimah the opportunity to be heard before the court on the two companies' application against their secretary. The company secretary was represented by Ambbi Sundrambal, while Ilham Tower and Ilham Baru were represented by lawyer Nizamuddin, a senior partner at Zharif Nizamuddin. MACC's second seizure was authorized by the deputy public prosecutor, who concluded that it was linked to alleged offences under Section 4(1) of Amla, specifically, transactions designed to avoid reporting requirements. Any "reckless compliance with MACC's order constitutes a violation of the law", according to lawyer Nizamuddin. The hearing for Naimah's judicial review proceedings is scheduled for July 23. Naimah is seeking to quash MACC's June 5 seizure notice, alleging that it constitutes an abuse of process. The injunction is effective until Oct 9 or any further order made by the court, according to the ruling made by High Court judge Wan Amin Wan Yahya.
